No. 12 Indians sweep Holmes

Goodman, Miss. – The No. 12 Indians picked up a pair of run-rule victories over Holmes Tuesday as Coach Rick Collier got big offensive performances from numerous players, including Hayden Harris (Pontotoc), who had three home runs and eight RBI on the day.

Game 1: Indians 12, Bulldogs 1 (5-inn.)

It didn't take long for the Indians to find their swing as they plated eight runs in the opening frame, highlighted by a three-run home run by Lane Domino (Fulton). Bailey Allbritton (Duck Hill), who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI, and Connar Gardner (Southaven), who had two doubles in the contest, added to the big eight run first innings driving in three runs.

The Indians put together another big inning in the third when Riley Davis (Collierville, Tenn.) singled in a run and Harris hitting a three-run home run.

After the offense gave the pitching staff plenty of run support early, Brady Davis (Mooreville) cruised to his fifth win of the year as he struck out six and allowed only two hits in four innings of work.

Game 2: Indians 13, Bulldogs 1 (5-inn.)

The nightcap was a repeat of game one with the Indians jumped out to a big lead in the first inning. Tyler Murphy (Columbus), Allbritton and Domino drove in runs and Harris capped off the 10-run inning with a three-run home run.

Davis extended the Indians' lead to 12-0 in the second on a single to right field that plated a pair of runs.

Harris capped off the Indians and his big day with a solo home run in the fifth.

Collin Babin (Ponchatoula, La.) took advantage of the run support to pick up his fifth win of the season as he allowed one run on two hits and struck out four in the four innings.

The Indians (21-9, 1705 MACCC) will remain on the road this weekend when they travel to Gulf Coast (17-11, 14-6 MACCC) for a crucial conference doubleheader. First pitch from Perkinston is scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday.
