Babin’s no-hitter helps No. 14 Indians split with Northeast

BOONEVILLE, Miss. – Collin Babin threw a no-hitter to help the No. 14 Indians team pick up a 14-1 game two win to earn a split with Northeast Mississippi Community College on Wednesday.

Babin (Ponchatoula, La.) was sharp from the start as he retired the first 12 batters before issuing a four-pitch walk to Josh Basil to start the bottom of the fifth inning. Basil was replaced on the bases by Alex Marshall, who stole second and advanced on a wild pitch before scoring on a throwing error.


The Indians (14-8, 10-4 MACCC) scored 4 in the second inning and added 6 more runs in the third before rolling to the run-rule victory in five innings.

Terris Meeks (Olive Branch), Riley Davis (Collierville, Tenn.), Kylan Carter (Houston), Lane Domino (Fulton), Jonathan Wittington (Columbus), and Hayden Walsh (Topsail, NC) each had two hits in the win.

Domino had two doubles and scored four runs while Walsh had a home run, double, two RBIs, and a run scored.

Babin (3-2) finished the game with nine strikeouts with one walk against 15 batters faced.

Game 1: Northeast 13, No. 14 Itawamba 12

The Tigers (12-14, 5-9 MACCC) scored three runs in the bottom of the eighth to rally to pick up a wild 13-12 win in the opening game of the day.

Davis had five RBIs in the loss after driving a run in the first and smashing a grand slam in the third. Carter, Domino, Harris, and Gardner each added a home run to go along with Davis' grand slam.

The Indians are scheduled to host Southwest Mississippi on Saturday at 2:00 and 5:00 p.m.
