Indians split on the road at East Central

Decatur, Miss. – A battle for the top spot in the conference, the Indians and East Central battled to a split with the Indians taking game one, 6-4 and the Warriors winning game two 6-5 in extra innings.

Game 1: Indians 6, Warriors 4

The Indians (11-7, 7-3 MACCC) tallied nine hits in the contest with Hayden Harris (Pontotoc) and Kylan Carter (Houston) picking up two hits each to lead the offense.

Terris Meeks (Olive Branch) drove in two runs for the Indians and he and Harris both picked up doubles.

On the hill, Will Armistead (Mooreville) picked up his third win of the season and David Rowland (Florence, Ala.) picked up the 10 out save.

Game 2: Warriors 6, Indians 5 (8-innings)

After a game tying double in the top of the seventh by Harris, the Indians saw the Warriors earn the split on a walk off single in the bottom of the eighth.

The Indians trailed early but too ka 3-1 lead in the third. However, the Warriors scored four runs in the fifth to take a 5-3 advantage. Harris' late double forced extra frames tied at 5-5, but the RBI single in the eighth saw the Warriors celebrate.

Harris led the Indian offense going 2-for-3, but the Indians didn't have a shortage of extra base hits with Bailey Allbritton (Duck Hill) and Tyler Murphy (Columbus) doubling, Riley Davis (Collierville, Tenn.) tripling and Lane Domino (Fulton) hitting a home run.

The Indians have the midweek date off this week but will travel to Co-Lin Saturday for a key conference doubleheader starting at 2 p.m.
