No. 7 Indians sweep Shawnee on Saturday

Game 1: No. 7 Indians 18, Shawnee 0 – 5 innings

Leading 2-0, the Indians scored nine runs in the bottom of the second to leap out to an 11-0 lead over the Saints.

Payton Springfield drove in a pair of runs on a bases-loaded single before Brett Coker pushed across two more runs on a single. Tyler Murphy and Riley Davis each added a RBI single while Allen Hall added a two-run single before scoring a wild pitch in the inning.

Kylan Carter smashed a grand slam and Hall followed with a solo home run to highlight a seven-run third inning.

Ben Fryar, Springfield, Murphy, Davis, and Hall each had multiple hits in the win.

Will Armistead picked up the win after giving up one hit with three strikeouts in three innings of scoreless work. Camron Wright struck out four of six batters he faced in two innings.

Game 2: No. 7 Indians 12, Shawnee 1 – 5 innings

The Saints cashed in on an Indian error to take a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning but ICC took advantage of a Shawnee error to take a 3-1 lead in the home half of the inning.

Coker and South Sanders had a RBI double while Fryar added a two-run double to highlight a six-run third inning that put the Indians up 9-1. ICC loaded the bases in the fourth and scored on a ground out by Connar Gardner before Fryar added his second two-run double of the game.

Jacob Jaudon closed the door on the Saints by striking out three of the five batters he faced in the fourth. Drew Monaghan picked up the win after giving up an unearned run on one hit, three walks, and one error while striking out six.

Fryar had three hits to help the Indians total seven hits in the win.
