No. 7 Indians split road doubleheader at Calhoun

Game 1: Calhoun 8, No. 7 Indians 6

Trailing 2-0, Calhoun scored four runs in the bottom of the third inning to take the first lead of the afternoon. The Indians rallied to tie the game with a pair of runs in the top of the fourth, but the Warhawks answered with four runs in the bottom half of the inning to pull ahead 8-4.

Tyler Murphy started the sixth inning by drawing a walk before scoring when Payton Springfield reached and advanced to third on an error. Springfield scampered home on a wild pitch to make it a two-run contest. The Indians loaded the bases with two outs but Calhoun got a ground ball back to the pitcher to get out of the jam.

Bailey Allbritton walked to start the seventh and advanced to third when Springfield singled to right field, but back-to-back strikeouts ended the threat and secured the win for the Warhawks.

Springfield, Ben Fryer, Terris Meeks each had a pair of hits in the loss.

Game 2: No. 7 Indians 2, Calhoun 1

Brett Coker broke open a scoreless contest after walking to start the sixth inning and scoring on an infield single by Meeks. Connar Gardner started off the seventh with a walk and advanced to third on a single to left by Fryer before scoring on a single to left by Allbritton to give the Indians a 2-1 lead.

Calhoun got a two-out single to center to make it a 2-1 game in favor of the Indians before Blaine Ware picked up his third strikeout of the game to help the Indians earn the split in Alabama.

Allbritton had a pair of hits and a RBI to pace the Indians at the plate.

Ware improved to 2-0 on the season after giving up one run on three hits and two walk in the complete game effort.
