No. 5 Indians swept by Snead State

Boaz, Ala. – After Mother Nature gave the Indians a two-week break after opening day, Coach Rick Collier and his squad were finally able to get a doubleheader in against Snead State Monday.

The No. 5 Indians (2-2) held a three or more run lead in both games but saw Snead State rally to pick up the sweep with an 11-4 game one win and a 7-4 victory in game two.

Game 1: Snead State 11, ICC 4

Lane Domino (Fulton) went 2-for-3 with a powerful two-run home run that gave the Indians a 4-1 lead in the fourth inning, and Brett Coker (Hendersonville, Tenn.) got the day started with a RBI single in the opening frame.

The 4-1 lead would quickly disappear as Snead State scored 10-runs over the next two innings to hand the Indians their first loss of the season.

Game 2: Snead State 7, ICC 4

The Indians looked to bounce back in game two and jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first two frames. Allen Hall (Toccopola) went 2-for-3 and doubled in the first to pick up two RBI.

The other two Indian runs were scored when Tyler Murphy (Columbus) was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded and Bailey Allbritton (Duck Hill) singling home a run.

Snead State chipped away at the lead scoring a run in the second and third, before taking the lead for good with a three-run fourth inning. The Parson added two runs in the fifth on their way to the 7-4 win and the sweep.

The Indians are scheduled to host Lake Land College Saturday in Fulton for a doubleheader at noon and 3 p.m.
