Houston Harding named All-American by NJCAA

FULTON, Miss. – Itawamba Community College pitcher Houston Harding was selected as a Third Team All-American by the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Tuesday afternoon. 

Harding wrapped up his career at ICC with a flawless 10-0 record during his sophomore campaign, while striking out a team-best 90 batters in 14 appearances. He finished last season with a 2.62 ERA and earned NJCAA All-Region 23 and Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges (MACJC) All-State First Team honors.

The Walls native was also named MACJC Pitcher of the week in late April as he struck out 19 and went 2-0 during the week prior.

During his freshman season, the lefthander finished with a 9-3 record and a 4.42 ERA. He struck out a team-high 95 in 79.1 innings of work over 16 appearances and earned MACJC All-State First Team honors.

Harding helped the Indians to two NCJAA Region 23 Tournament appearances and an MACJC Championship during his time in the red and blue. Next season, Harding will continue his career in Starkville since he signed with Mississippi State University early this year.

He is the fourteenth Indian to earn All-American honors and the first since Tyreque Reed in 2017.
