No. 2 Indians season ends with loss in region semifinals

FULTON, Miss. – After playing a for over four hours against No. 6 Pearl River, the No. 2 Indians battled No. 1 LSU Eunice in elimination semifinal of the NJCAA Region 23 Tournament Friday night.

The Indians (41-8-1) shook off their first game of the day and came out swinging, scoring five runs in the opening frame. LaBryant Siddell (Belden) singled to score Kyle Crigger (Corinth) before scoring on a ground out, and Justin Medlin (Ripley) doubled to score Jackson Lancaster (Corinth), who doubled, to put the Indians up 3-0.

Russell Bunch (Saltillo) singled to score Brett Coker (Hendersonville, Tenn.) and Medlin to complete the five run inning.

The Bengals began to chip away with one run in the second and then plated three in the third. In the sixth, they tied the contest and took the lead for good with a three run eighth. 

In the ninth, the Bengals scored six runs to put the game out of reach. The Indians scored two runs in the bottom of the inning as Jacob Hall (Petal) scored on a sacrifice fly by Medlin and Coker singled to score Lancaster.

The Indians successful season came to a close, but the team won 41 games and the MACJC Championship.
