No. 2 Indians fall to No. 6 Pearl River winner’s bracket semifinals

FULTON, Miss. – The No. 2 Indians fell 21-13 to No. 6 Pearl River in the winner's bracket semifinal of the NJCAA Region 23 Tournament Friday afternoon.

The Indians (41-7-1) fell behind early but fought back to cut the Wildcats lead to 6-5 in the third as Lane Domino (Fulton) doubled with the bases loaded. However Pearl River answered with three runs in the fourth to push the lead out to four, 9-5.

In the fifth, the Wildcats scored seven runs to take a 16-5 lead but a RBI single by Jackson Lancaster (Corinth), who had four hits in the game, and a grand slam by Justin Medlin (Ripley) to cut the lead to 16-10 after five innings.

The Indians would score a run in the sixth as Domino scored on an error and two in the seventh on RBI singles by Austin Powell (Star City, Ark.) and Domino, but it wouldn't be enough over take the Wildcats, who scored five runs over the final four frames to pick up the victory.

Despite the loss, the Indians still have a chance to make the championship game as they will face LSU Eunice in an elimination game at 8:45 p.m.
