FULTON, Miss. – ICC sophomore infielder and pitcher Justin Medlin has signed a National Letter of Intent to continue his baseball and academic career at Middle Tennessee State University.
"It's feels great to have the opportunity to continue my baseball and academic career," said Medlin. "Since I was younger, I've prayed for this, and I'm excited to be able to continue my career and greater His kingdom."
The Ripley native finished his freshman season with a .318 batting average, 47 hits, 13 doubles, two triples, five home runs and had a team-high 34 RBI. On the mound, Medlin threw 26 innings and struck out 27 in 10 appearances.
"Justin was big part of everything we accomplished last season," said ICC head coach Rick Collier. "He's a starting pitcher and a four-hole hitter, who is one of the strongest guys on the team and works extremely hard. He's going to be a great ball player there (Middle Tenn.)."
During his first year in Fulton, Medlin helped the Indians to a 33-17 record and a National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region 23 Tournament berth for the first time since 2012.
"We've got a really good squad this season," Medlin said. "I'm really excited about this team and season and coming here (ICC) was the biggest blessing of my life."
Medlin and the Indians will start their 2019 season in early February against Snead State (Ala.) Community College.
