FULTON, Miss. – Sophomore Kyle Crigger has signed a National Letter of Intent to continue his baseball career at Louisiana Tech University.
"It is an awesome feeling, and I've worked my whole life to be able to go to the next level," said Crigger. "Thanks to Coach (Rick) Collier for getting me here (ICC) and the coaches at Louisiana Tech for giving me the opportunity to live out my dream. I'm excited to see what the future holds."
The Corinth native was named to the Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges (MACJC) All-State Second Team after batting a team-high .361 with 65 hits, nine doubles, a triple, five home runs and 26 RBI from the leadoff spot. Crigger spent most of his time in the infield but also had 21 appearances on the mound.
Used mainly in a closer role, Crigger picked up five saves and three wins in 35 innings pitched and struck out 28 with a 2.83 ERA.
"Kyle is the definition of a baseball player," said ICC head coach Rick Collier. "He's an exceptional player that I can put anywhere on the field, and he has a great bat. He's a hard worker and is only going to get better moving forward."
Last season, Crigger helped the Indians advance to the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region 23 Tournament for the first time since 2012. The Indians finished with a 33-17 record, and earned the program's highest-ever ranking at No. 2.
He will join the Bulldogs who finished the 2018 season 39-20 and made the Conference USA Tournament, but still has his sophomore season to complete before moving on.
"I am always thankful and will always remember this place (ICC)," said Crigger. "But we have a really good team this year and we're going to try and win a championship."
Crigger and the Indians will start their 2019 season in early February against Snead State (Ala.) Community College.
