Indians power past East Mississippi for 18-3 win

SCOOBA, Miss. – Despite the scoreboard not working in Scooba, the Indians lit it up anyway as they scored 18-runs on 14-hits to defeat East Mississippi 18-3 in five innings.

The Indians (29-12, 15-10) had five players pick up multiple hits and three who combined for nine RBI. Connor Lewis (Corinth),Justin Medlin(Ripley) and Hunter Nabors(Montevallo, Ala.) finished with three RBIs each and Lewis led the Indians going 3-for-4 with a pair of runs scored.

Nabors and Medlin went 2-for-3 with one of Nabors hits was a three run no-doubter home run in the third. Russell Bunch(Saltillo) also homered in the game with a two run shot to left in the second frame.

Jackson Lancaster(Corinth) and Kyle Crigger(Corinth) added two hits each and combined for five runs scored and three RBI including Crigger's two run double that was part of the Indians nine run third inning.

While the Indians' bats where on fire, Hunter Hughes(Saltillo) was taking care of business on the mound as he threw four and third innings, striking out eight to improve to 5-0 this season.

The game one win over East Mississippi assured that the Indians will compete in the MACJC Best-of-Three Playoff Series next week. The playoff berth is the third straight for the Indians.
