MOORHEAD, Miss. – After winning game one, the Indians came up just short of the sweep as Mississippi Delta scored two late runs in the tight battle to pick up the 4-2 win Tuesday.
The Indians (26-12, 12-10), trailed after the first inning but plated runs in the second and third to tie the contest at two.
Russell Bunch(Saltillo) cut the Trojans lead to 2-1 in the second with a RBI single and Justin Medlin(Ripley) singled home a run in the third to tie the game.
After a scoreless fourth, the Trojans plated the go ahead run on a bases loaded ground out and then added an insurance run in the sixth on a solo home run.
Kyle Crigger(Corinth) went 2-for-3 and Medlin went 2-for-4 with an RBI to lead the Indians offensive production.
The Indians currently sit in sixth place in the conference standings which is good enough for a playoff berth, but they haven't punched their ticket to the postseason just yet. The tribe will travel to Wesson Saturday to face a Co-Lin squad who is fighting to keep their playoff hopes alive.
