FULTON, Miss. – A late home run by No. 20 East Central gave them a 6-5 game one win and ended the Indians comeback bid.
The Indians (25-10, 11-8) trailed 4-1 heading into the bottom of the third, but rallied to tie the contest in the fifth by scoring one run in the third, fourth and fifth.
With the game knotted at 4-4, East Central regained the lead on a 2-run home run, but the Indians added a run in the bottom of the sixth to cut the lead to 6-5. However, they were unable to push across the tying run to drop game one of the conference doubleheader.
Hitting the ball wasn't an issue for the Indians as they had 18 in the game, but timely hitting was hard to come to by as they left the bases loaded twice in the early innings.
LaBryant Siddell(Belden) led the Indians in hitting as he went 4-for-5 with an RBI and a run scored and added a double and a home run.
Connor Lewis(Corinth) picked up three hits while Justin Medlin(Ripley), Hunter Nabors(Montevallo, Ala.), Jackson Lancaster(Corinth) and Jacob Hall(Petal) all had two hits.
