No. 19 Indians hold off Southwest’s comeback to complete sweep

FULTON, Miss. – Despite seeing a six run lead disappear, the Indians were able to complete the sweep of Southwest on Friday with a 9-8 win.

The Indians (23-9, 9-7 MACJC) scored early and often scoring five runs over the first two frames as LaBryant Siddell(Belden) hit a 3-run home run in the first and Braden Ellis (Saltillo) scoring on a wild pitch and Kyle Crigger(Corinth) scoring on a sacrifice fly by Jackson Lancaster(Corinth).

Southwest scored a pair of runs in the third, but Siddell struck again with a 2-run home run in the fourth to give the Indians a 8-2 lead. However, the Indians would see their lead disappear in the sixth as Southwest scored six runs on six hits to tie the game 8-8.

The game wouldn't stayed tied long as Lancaster hits a single up the middle to score Kyle Weaver(Courtland) and give the Indians a one run lead, 9-8.

Crigger took over on the hill in the sixth and he threw two perfect frames to earn his second save of the day and give the Indians to win and the sweep.

Houston Harding(Walls) picked up the win with five innings of work where he struck out seven.

The Indians will continue their final home stand of the year on Wednesday when they host Coahoma for a doubleheader starting at 3 p.m.
