No. 11 Indians fall 9-2 in game two to Northeast

FULTON, Miss. – After taking game one of the conference doubleheader, the No. 11 Indians fell to Northeast 9-2 in game two.

The Indians (20-6, 6-4 MACJC) fell behind early as the visiting Tigers scored two run in the opening frame, but the tribe rallied to tie the game over the next three at bats.

Connor Lewis (Corinth) and Kyle Crigger (Corinth) hit back-to-back singles in the bottom half of the first and Lewis later scored on a Jacob Hall (Petal) sacrifice fly to cut Northeast's lead to 2-1.

In the third, the Indians tied the contest at 2-2 as Crigger scored when Justin Medlin (Ripley) beat out the throw to first during a double play attempt.

The score would remain knotted at two, until the top of the fifth when the Tigers sent nine batter to the plate and score six runs to take an 8-2 lead and added a run in the sixth to extend the lead to seven runs.

Northeast left handed pitcher Cooper Cox was able to hold the Indians to only two hits over the final three innings to secure the victory with a complete game performance.

The Indians will return to action Saturday when they host No. 12 Jones County Junior College for a conference twin bill starting at 2 p.m. at Roy Cresap Field in Fulton.
