FULTON, Miss. – After holding on to win game one of the MACJC doubleheader, the No. 8 Indians picked up an 11-9 shootout win over No. 16 Mississippi Gulf Coast to earn the sweep.

Unlike game one, where they jumped out to an early lead, the Indians (16-2, 2-0 MACJC) found themselves down 2-0 after the opening frame, but RBI singles by Drake Wallace (Amory) and Cason Milliorn (Olive Branch) tied the contest in the second.

With the game tied, Trey Desantis (Laurel) continued the hit parade with a RBI single of his own, giving the Indians a 3-2 lead heading into the third inning.

The Indians would extend their lead in the third as Milliorn, who went 2-for-3 with 3 RBI, drove in two with on a single and a pair of runs scored as Wallace reached on an error and a Hunter Nabors (Montevallo, Ala.) sacrifice fly.

Gulf Coast would answer with two runs in the following frame to cut the tribe's lead to 7-4. However, a 2-run single by Drew Thomas (Nesbit) followed by a deep 2-run home run to centerfield by LaBryant Siddell (Belden) extended the lead to 11-4 after four frames.

The Bulldogs would five runs over the final two innings but the Indians were able to hold on to pick up the win and the sweep by the score of 11-9.

Austin King (Fulton) picked up the win from the hill and improves to 4-0 this season.

Next up for the Indians is their first MACJC road test as they travel to Goodman for a twinbill with the Holmes Bulldogs on Wednesday. First pitch is scheduled for 2 p.m.
