FULTON, MS – Sophomore right hander JT Salter (Bay Minette, AL) led Itawamba Community College to a 7-1 game two win and force a decisive game three by throwing a complete game two hitter Friday.

After dropping the first game in the NJCAA Region 23 Best-of-Three Playoff Series, the Indians  (31-15) needed a good pitching performance to stay alive and Salter stepped up and threw nine innings and struck out 10 Wildcats.

Salter allowed one unearned run, but the Indian offense gave him plenty of run support scoring four in the opening frame.

Kyle Weaver (Courtland) and Bryan Malone (Belmont) led the charge for the Indians by picking up two RBIs each. Austin Carpenter (Belmont), Russ Payne (Fulton) and Trevor Smith (Oneonta, AL) drove home one run each as well.

The impressive pitching by Salter started with him striking out seven of the first nine batters he faced setting the tone for the contest and leading the Indians to the 7-1 win.

After a quick fix of the field and time for the pitchers to warm up, the decisive game three will begin at Roy Cresap Field. Watch live at LetsGoICCTV.com/blue.
