CLARKSDALE, MS – After falling behind 3-0, the Itawamba Community College baseball team rattled off 12 unanswered runs to take game one of the conference doubleheader 12-3 over Coahoma Community College Wednesday.

The Indians (24-9, 11-6 MACJC) fell behind as the Tigers plated a run in each of the first three frames, but plated four runs in the fourth to take a 4-3 advantage.

Keith Stepter (Hernando) cut the Tigers lead to one run with a two run home run to left for his fourth of the season and picked up three hits in the contest.

Tyreque Reed (Houlka) then gave the Indians the lead in that four run fourth on a blistering single up the middle that plated two runs, Reed would finish the game 3-for-5 with three RBI.

The one run lead would have been enough for the Indian bull pen as they held the Tigers to only two hits in the final six innings, but the tribe plated eight runs in the final two frames to leave no doubt and take a 12-3 lead that ended up being the final tally.

In the three runs eighth, Austin Carpenter (Belmont) and Bryan Malone (Belmont) picked up RBIs with back-to-back singles and Carpenter later socred on a passed ball.

The highlight of the ninth was a two run home run by Kyle Weaver (Courtland), which was his first round tripper of the season.

Klay Houston (Fulton) picked up his first win of the year after throwing five outstanding innings out the pen and Sam Harrington (Mooreville) closed out the contest by setting down the Tigers in order in the ninth.
