No. 12 Indians complete sweep with 12-2 win over Southwest

SUMMIT, MS – It only took Itawamba Community College six innings in game two to earn the sweep as they defeated Southwest Mississippi Community College 12-2 Friday.

The Indians (23-9, 10-6 MACJC) took an early lead in game two as they plated four runs highlighted by a big three run home run by Ben Seay (Mooreville), who went 2-for-3.

Tyreque Reed (Houlka), who went 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles, added an RBI and scored twice while Kaleb Barnes (Pontotoc) had big day with three RBI and three hits.

After falling behind early, the Bears answered with two run in the bottom of the opening frame, but the Indians went on to score eight unanswered including another four runs inning in the fifth.

Sophomore pitcher Steffon Moore (West Point) went the distance in the run-ruled shortened game while allowing only four hits and two runs while striking out eight and walking none. Moore improves to 4-1 this season.

The Indians have hit their final road section of their schedule as they travel to Coahoma Community College Wednesday, April 19 and East Central Community College Saturday, April 22.
