SUMMIT, MS – The Itawamba Community College baseball team had hit a tough part of their schedule, but they ended a five game skid Friday with a dominated 10-3 road win over Southwest Mississippi Community College.

The Indians (22-9, 9-6 MACJC) fell behind early but were able to push across eight runs over two innings to take an 8-2 lead after four, due to their two, three and four hitters getting it done at the plate.

Tyreque Reed (Houlka) went 2-for-3 with a double and scored three times while Austin Carpenter (Belmont) went 2-for-5 with three RBI, scored two runs and hit a triple. Bryan Malone (Belmont) added two RBI as he went 2-for-5.

While the bats were giving the Indians a commanding lead, sophomore starting pitcher JT Salter (Bay Minette, AL) helped preserve it by throwing seven strong innings and allowing only five hits. The Bears would push across two runs on the 6'7 right hander but only one was earned and Salter picked up nine strikeouts.

Klay Houston (Fulton) came in to close out the nine inning affair with two innings of one hit baseball.
