Northwest rallies to take game two over No. 7 Indians, 8-6

FULTON, MS – In game two, No. 7 Itawamba Community College came out with hot bats but saw Northwest Mississippi Community College rally again to capture game two and the sweep by the score of 8-6.

Similar to game one of the conference doubleheader, the Indians (21-9, 8-6 MACJC) jumped out to an early lead. Tyreque Reed (Houlka) started the game with a solo home run in the first and Ben Seay (Mooreville) hit a BRI single in the second to put the tribe up 2-0.

In the third, the Indians plated four runs as Russ Payne (Fulton) and Reed picked up RBI singles and run scoring a sacrifice flies by Austin Carpenter (Belmont) and Seay.

Northwest then began to chip away scoring two runs in both the fourth and fifth frames and then put up four runs in the top of the seventh to take a 8-6 lead.

The Indians loaded the bases with one out but were unable to get the timely hit and the Rangers picked up the win and the sweep.

ICC hits the road again Friday as they travel to Southwest Mississippi Community College for a conference doubleheader.
