FULTON, MS – After a tough week on the road, No. 7 Itawamba Community College returned to Roy Cresap Field Tuesday in hopes of ending their three game skid, but a scrappy Northwest Mississippi Community College time rallied to forced extra innings and then went on to take game one 7-6 in 11 innings.

The Indians (21-8, 8-5 MACJC) jumped out to an early 4-0 lead as Hagan Box (French Camp) and Kaleb Barnes (Pontotoc) hit run scoring singles, followed by a two run double by Tyreque Reed (Houlka) in the bottom of the second.

Northwest began to chip away at the lead in the fifth and ended up tying the contest in the sixth on a triple by Spencer Cayten, homered one inning prior to cut the lead in half.

Neither team was able to find the winning run by the end of the ninth so the game headed to extra innings. After a scoreless tenth, the Rangers plated three runs on one hit and an error in the top of the eleventh, but the Indians had their chance in the bottom of the frame.

The Indians had a run score on an error to cut the lead to 7-5 and after intentionally walking Reed for the third time of the game, the bases were loaded. Austin Carpenter (Belmont) grounded out to the first baseman that scored Cody Pate (Amory) and cut the lead to one with runners at second and third.

However, the Rangers forced another ground ball to get the final out and pick up the 7-6 extra inning victory.
