BOONEVILLE, MS – In game two of the rivalry doubleheader, Itawamba Community College's late surge came up short as Northeast Mississippi Community College picked up a 10-5 win in game two to earn the series split.

The Indians (21-5, 8-2 MACJC) fell behind early as the Tigers plated two run in the opening frame and their starting pitcher Ryan Wesson was able to keep the tribe's hot bats at bay.

After falling behind 5-0 after five innings, the Indians plated their first run of the contest on a solo home run by Austin Carpenter (Belmont) but the Tigers pushed across five run in the bottom half of the sixth to take a 10-1 lead.

Down to their final three outs, the Indians needed a spark and Hagan Box (French Camp) did his best to provide it by ripping a triple to push across two runs and later scored on a  Tyreque Reed (Houlka) single.

The Indians had cut the lead to 10-4 and loaded the bases with no outs. After two quick outs, Reed scored on a passed ball but Northeast was able to hold off the rally to pick up the 10-5 win.

Saturday, the Idnians travel to Ellisville for a top ten series with No. 1 Jones County Junior College.
