FULTON, MS – A walk off single by Russ Payne (Fulton) gave the No. 9 Itawamba Community College Indians an exciting 5-4 win in 12 innings over Pearl River Community College Saturday.

The Indians (19-4, 6-1 MACJC) jumped out early lead on the visiting Wildcats (15-7, 6-2), who came into Fulton unbeaten in conference play, as Hagan Box (French Camp) lead off the bottom of the first with a solo home run.

Austin Carpetner (Belmont) followed Box's lead with a solo shot of his own in the third and he would strike again in the seven with a run scoring double to give the Indians a 3-0 lead.

After a Ben Seay (Mooreville) run scoring single in the eighth, the Indians help what appeared to be a comfortable 4-0 lead, especially after starting pitcher JT Salter (Bay Minette, AL) shut down the dangerous Wildcats for seven innings by allowing only two hits and striking out 11.

However, the Wildcats were able to find the bats against the Indian bullpen in the top of the ninth they were able to tie the contest scoring four runs on five hits to force extra innings.

After two quick outs in the bottom of the twelfth, it appeared the game would head the thirteenth but a walk by Keith Stepter (Hernando) kept the Indians alive.

The game wouldn't last long after that as Payne singled on a line drive that scored a hustling Stepter from first and give the Indians the 5-4 walk off win in 12 innings.
