MERIDIAN, MS – After exploding for 17 runs in game one of their doubleheader with Meridian Community College Sunday, The No. 10 Itawamba Community College baseball program completed the sweep a 5-2 victory behind strong pitching and clutch hitting in game two.

The Indians (18-4, 5-1 MACJC) and Eagles both plated one run in the top of the first, but pair of clutch hits by Ben Seay (Mooreville) and Keith Stepter (Hernando) in the fourth pushed across three runs to give the tribe the lead.

Seay, who put the Indians out front with his two RBI double, finished the game 1-for-2 with two RBI and one run scored, while Stepter went 1-for-3 with one RBI. Austin Carpenter (Belmont) added a RBI as he went 2-for-3 in the contest.

Once they captured the lead, the excellent pitching performances by Steffon Moore (West Point) and Sam Harrington (Mooreville) allowed the Indians cruise to the victory and the sweep of the Eagles.

Moore picked up the win to improve to 3-2 this season while throwing four innings and allowing only four hits, one unearned run and striking out seven. Harrington finished the final three frames by striking out three and allowing one hit and one run.

The Indian pitching staff combined 26 strikeouts during the MACJC doubleheader and look to improve on that at their next scheduled conference twin bill Saturday, April 1 against Pearl River Community College at 2 pm.
