MERIDIAN, MS – Sophomores Keith Stepter (Hernando) and Tyreque Reed (Houlka) combined for five home runs and eight RBI to power the No. 10 Itawamba Community College to a 17-2 win over Meridian Community College in game one Sunday.

The Indians (17-4, 4-1 MACJC) rattled off 18 hits the the nine inning contest and Stepter led the charge going 4-for-5 with three home runs, one double, five RBI and four runs scored. Reed wasn't far behind going 3-for-5 with two home runs, three RBI and two runs scored.

Drake Wallace (Amory) added three runs with his bases loaded triple and Bryan Malone (Belmont) picked up two RBI as he finished the game 2-for-5. Two round out the scoring for the Indians, Hagan Box (French Camp) and Kaleb Barnes (Pontotoc) picked up an RBI each.

With the offensive explosion by the Indians, there pitching was east to overlook, but the tribe got a stellar performance on the hill by JT Salter (Bay Minette, AL), Trenton Stringer (Stringer) and Blake Appel (Gulfport).

Salter, who got the start and picked up the win to improve to 3-0 this season, threw six and third innings while allowing only three hits, one run and struck out a career high 12.

Stringer and Appel closed out the final two and two third frames combining for four strikeouts and allowing only one hit and one run.
