No. 10 Indians complete sweep of Holmes with 9-2 victory

FULTON, MS – The No. 10 Itawamba Community College baseball program picked up it's first MACJC doubleheader sweep Wednesday with a 9-2 victory in game two over Holmes Community College.

The Indians (16-4, 3-1 MACJC) rattled off 13 hits in the seven inning affair and scored all of their runs from the third to fifth innings.

Hagan Box (French Camp) and Tyreque Reed (Houlka) sparked the Indians from the top of the lineup with Box going 3-for-4 with two RBI and two runs scored and Reed finishing 2-for-3 with a pair of RBI and a walk.

Bryan Malone (Belmont) added two RBIs which were the tribe's first of the contest in the third inning and Ben Seay (Mooreville) continued his strong performance at the plate going 2-for-4 in game two and 4-for-8 during the doubleheader.

A leadoff solo home run by Russ Payne (Fulton) in the fourth sparked a three run frame and Keith Stepter (Hernando) hit a pinch hit RBI single to start the scoring in the fifth.

Box and Reed wrapped up the four run fifth inning by pushing across three runs.

Freshman left hander Witt Roaton (Blue Springs) picked up the win to improve to 3-1 and went three and a third allowing three hits, one run and struck out four.

The Indians will travel Sunday for another conference twin bill at Meridian Community College. First pitch is set for 1 p.m.
