PERKINSTON, MS – No. 11 Itawamba Community College's three runs in the top of the first inning propelled the Indians to a 4-1 game one win over No. 13 Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College in the MACJC opener.

The Indians (14-3, 1-0 MACJC) scored all three of their first inning runs with two outs highlighted by a two run double by Bryan Malone (Belmont) and a RBI single by Russ Payne (Fulton).

Hagan Box (French Camp) added an insurance run for the Indians in the top of the ninth with a double that scored Keith Stepter (Hernando).

Gulf Coast plated their lone run in the second frame and were held to only four hits by the pitching combo of JT Salter (Bay Minette, AL) and Sam Harrington (Mooreville).

The Indian pitchers also combined for seven strikeouts and Salter picked up the win to improve to 3-0 this season.

At the plate, Malone led the charge going 3-for-4 with two RBI and a double.
