FULTON, MS – Itawamba Community College wrapped up a long and cold day at Roy Cresap Field by holding on to defeat East Central Community College 10-9.

In a preview of their conference doubleheader set for April 22 in Decatur, both teams battled as if this one counted toward the conference record.

The Indians (13-3) jumped out to a 7-0 lead in the first inning, but the Warriors began to chip away and a five run sixth inning put them within one.

Kaleb Barnes (Pontotoc) came in to pitch to stop the bleeding in the top of the sixth and retired the Warriors in order to give the Indians the 10-9 win. Barnes picked up the save throwing one and two thirds innings, allowing only one hit and one run that was unearned.

Bryan Malone (Belmont) and Hagan Box (French Camp) led the charge for the Indians at the plate with Malone going 3-for-3 with two RBI and Box finishing 3-for-4 with two triples, one RBI and two runs scored.

Sophomore Ben Seay (Mooreville) had a big impact as he was 1-for-1 with three walks, two RBI and two runs scored.

The Indians are riding a six game winning streak and will begin MACJC play on the road Saturday at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College. First pitch is schedule for 2 p.m.
