FULTON, MS – Itawamba Community College plated five runs in two innings to complete the sweep of Lake Land College with a 5-1 game two victory Saturday.

The Indians (6-2) pushed across their first two runs in the first inning as Austin Carpenter (Belmont) doubled off the fence to score Hagan Box (French Camp), who tripled to start the inning.

Bryan Malone (Belmont) gave the Indians the lead on a sacrifice fly that scored Tyreque Reed (Houlka).

Lake Land loaded the bases in the second inning, but Witt Roaton (Blue Springs) was able to work out of the jam to preserve the lead.

In the bottom of the second, Ben Seay (Mooreville) tripled, allowing Jake Smith (Oneonta, AL) and Russ Payne (Fulton) to score and Seay later scored on a wild pitch to extend the lead to 5-1.

The Indians cruised to the victory after that with Roaton picking up the win by throwing five innings, allowing four hits and striking out seven. Blake Appel (Gulfport) came in and closed out the game with a strong two innings where he struck out three and allowed only two hits.

Next up for the Indians is a home doubleheader with Calhoun Community College Tuesday.
