FULTON, MS – An Austin Carpenter (Belmont) three run home run in the first inning propelled the Itawamba Community College baseball team to a 4-1 game one win over Lake Land College Saturday.

After falling behind 1-0 in the top of the first, Hagan Box (French Camp) and Tyreque Reed (Houlka) both reached base in their first at bats to set up Carpenter's three run bomb, that gave the Indians (5-2) a 3-1 lead after the first frame.

Reed would later scoring the contest to give the Indians a 4-1 lead which was more than enough for the pitching combo of Jon Morgan Payne (Belmont) and Reid Carter (Houston) to secure the victory.

Payne picked the win throwing four and third innings allowing one run on two hits while striking out six. Carter didn't allow a hit in two and two thirds innings of work and added four strikeouts.

Carpenter finished game one 2-for-3 with three RBIs and Reed went 1-for-2 with two runs scored and two stolen bases.
