FULTON, MS – Itawamba Community College took the lead in the first inning over Rend Lake Community College and never looked back as they picked up the 6-3 game two win and the sweep.

The Indians (4-2) opened up game two with four hits and three runs to taker a 3-0 lead and set the tone against Rend Lake. Hagan Box (French Camp) started the inning with a leadoff double and Bryan Malone (Belmont) and Austin Carpenter (Belmont) hit back-to-back singles.

Kaleb Barnes (Pontotoc) followed with a RBI double to give the Indians a 3-0 lead after the first frame.

The Indians would then score one in each of the next three innings on a Carpenter added a RBI double and a powerful solo home run in the second and fourth innings and Hunter Nabors (Montevallo, AL) sacrifice fly in the third.  

With a six run lead, the Indians pitching staff had breathing room, but Rend Lake plated two run in the top of the fifth and one in the top of the seventh, but despite cutting the lead in half, they were unable to overcome the Indians fast start.

Steffon Moore (West Point) picked up his first win of the young season to improve to 1-1 after throwing four and two thirds innings allowing three hits, two runs and striking out five.

The Indians will return to action Saturday, February 25 to take on Lake Land (IL) for a doubleheader at Roy Cresap Field starting at noon.
