FULTON, MS – Sophomores Kaleb Barnes (Pontotoc), Austin Carpenter (Belmont) and Tyreque Reed (Houlka) combined for eight hits and all nine Itawamba Community College's runs to lead the Indians to a 9-5 game one win over Rend Lake Community College Sunday.

The Indians (3-2) fell behind early as Rend Lake pushed across three runs in the opening frame, but Barnes, who finished 3-for-4 with 3 RBI, ripped a two out double to score two runs and pull the Indians within one, 3-2, after the first inning.

In the top of the second, Rand Lake extended their lead to 4-2, but in the bottom of the frame, Reed gave the Indians the lead by crushing a three run home run to left center field.

After taking the lead, the Indians poured it on as Reed, who finished 2-for-4, hit a run scoring triple, and Barnes pushing a run across on his third hit of the contest.

Carpenter picked up three hits on the day and pushed across two runs as the Indians claimed the 9-5 game one victory.

Sam Harrington (Mooreville) picked up his first win of the season thanks to the bats of the sophomore trio and four strong innings of work where he struck out four, allowed five hits and two runs.
