DECATUR, AL – An early error put Itawamba Community College behind early and they were unable to overcome the deficit, giving Calhoun Community College a 6-3 game one win in the Indians season opening doubleheader Friday.

The Indians (0-1) fell behind early after an error on slow roller that should have ended the inning allowed the Warhawks to get a bases loaded double to take a 3-0 lead after the first frame.

In the second inning, the Warhawks added a run to take a 4-0 lead, but the Indians rallied in the top of the third to cut the lead to one after Tyreque Reed (Houlka) was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded and Bryan Malone (Belmont) ripping a two run single.

The Warhawks were able to get two runs in the next two innings to pick up the 6-3 win.

Sophomore pitcher Steffon Moore (West Point) was hit with the loss after throwing two and two thirds innings allowing six hits and five runs (two earned) and striking out four.
