MILLINGTON, TN – Hits were few and far between in game two of Itawamba Community College and Southwest Tennessee Community College's doubleheader Wednesday, but the hosting Saluqis took advantage of an error to pick up the 1-0 win and split in the pitcher's duel.

With Witt Roaton (Blue Springs) and Houston Haag both throwing gems from the bump, the game was sure to be decided by which team could take advantage of any mistake.

In the bottom of the fifth, the Saluqis (1-9) had their leadoff hitter reach on an error and was able to push him across on a ground out to second after the runner moved over the third on a dropped third strike and passed ball.

The Indians (2-2) were able to put three people on base in the final two innings and had Tyreque Reed (Houlka) 90-feet away from tying the contest but were unable to get the clutch hit they needed, giving the Saluqis

Roaton was hit with the tough loss after throwing four and a third innings, allowing only three hits, one unearned run and striking out seven. Haag picked up the win for the Saluqis by throwing a complete game one hitter and striking out nine.

The Indians will host Rend Lake Community College (IL) Sunday for the first home series at Roy Cresap Field. First pitch for game one of the doubleheader is set for 12:30 p.m.
