MILLINGTON, TN – Clutch hits by sophomores Bryan Malone (Belmont) and Tyreque Reed (Houlka) gave Itawamba Community College a 3-1 win over Southwest Tennessee Community College in game one of their doubleheader Wednesday.

The Indians (2-1) trailed 1-0 after five complete but after an Austin Carpenter (Belmont) walk, Malone put the tribe on top with a two run home run to left center.

In the top of the sixth, the Indians picked up an insurance run off of Reed's double that appeared to be about a half of a foot short of a home run as it hit the top of the center field fence.

The insurance run was enough for the Indians to pick up the victory in the nine inning affair as Kaleb Barnes (Pontotoc) and Sam Harrington (Mooreville) held the Saluqis (0-9) to two hits over the final three frames.

Barnes picked up his first win of the season after throwing six innings of relief while allowing only four hits, no runs and striking out six. Harrington grabs his first save this season. Saluqis starter Dillon Bonee was hit with the tough luck loss after throwing seven innings and striking out 11.

Malone was the only Indian with multiple hits as he finished the game 2-for-4 with two RBI, a single and home run.
