FULTON, MS – The Itawamba Community College baseball team outhit No. 15 East Central Community College in game one of their twin bill on Saturday, but dropped a 6-3 decision.

The Indians (22-17, 10-13 MACJC) picked up nine hits in the contest including three from leadoff hitter Delvin Zinn (Pontotoc) and drove in two runs in the fourth on an Austin Carpenter (Belmont) single that tied the game.

A two run home run and an RBI single in the fifth put the nationally ranked Warriors back in the lead and they extended it to 6-2 in the seventh.

Cody Pate (Amory) hit a pinch hit double in the eighth that drove in one run to cut the lead to three, 6-3. However, the Indians were retired in order in the final frame to drop game one.

Despite out hitting the Warriors, the Indians committed three errors that led to two runs being scored that held the Warrior pick up the win.

Zinn finished the game 3-for-5 and Carpenter 2-for-4.
