FULTON, MS – A three run sixth inning propelled the Itawamba Community College baseball program to a 4-3 victory in game one over Southwest Mississippi Community College Saturday.

The Indians (20-15, 8-11 MACJC) trailed 2-1 for most of the contest, but rallied in the bottom of the sixth to take a 4-2 lead. Timothy Rowe (Hernando) tied the game at two with a double to center that scored Hagan Box (French Camp), who led off the inning with a single.

Rowe later scored on a ground out to give the Indians a one run advantage before Drake Rowton (Marion, AR) blasted a solo home run to extend the lead to 4-2.

The Bears answered with a run in the top of the seventh, but Bryan Malone (Belmont) caught a base runner trying to steal second, followed by JT Salters (Bay Minette, AL) ending the inning with a strikeout to preserve the one run lead.

In the eighth, the Bears threatened again but the Indians were able to hold their lead after a big double play by Delvin Zinn (Pontotoc), Ty Wheeler (Tupelo) and Rowton.

The Bears picked up a two out double in the ninth, but Salters and the Indians were able to get the third out to pick up the 4-3 win.

Salters went the distance allowing three runs on seven hits in the nine inning affair and improves to 4-0 this season.
