FULTON, MS – In game one of a non conference doubleheader with conference foe East Central Community College, Itawamba Community College committed an uncharacteristic six errors and surrendered 10 hits in the 13-1 run-rule loss Saturday.
The Indians (10-3) jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first inning, but fell behind as East Central plated four runs in the bottom of the opening frame. Trailing by three, the Indians had time to make a comeback but errors and good hitting allowed the Warriors (11-4) to extend their lead.
After driving in one run in the bottom of the fourth, the Warriors plated eight runs over the next two innings to pick up the 13-1 run-rule victory.
Despite the lack of runs, the Indians had strong offensive performances from Hagan Box (French Camp) and Ty Wheeler (Tupelo). Box went 2-3 with a double and Wheeler 2-4. Delvin Zinn (Pontotoc) scored the Indians lone run when he scored on an error.
