Early leads gives Indians game one win over East Central

DECATUR, MS – The Itawamba Community College baseball team ended a five game skid in a big way Tuesday as they exploded for 21 runs to pick up a run-rule victory in game one, 21-2.

The Indians (16-15, 10-13) jumped out to an early 4-0 lead on a first inning grand slam by Gable Butler (Iuka) and added four additional runs in the following frame highlighted by a two run scoring single by Brayden Owen (Tupelo).

In the fourth and fifth innings, the Indians would plate a combined 12 runs to extend their lead to 20-1. Tanner Poole (Amory) drove in all three runs in the fourth frame with a bases loaded triple and he added another RBI with a single in the fifth.

The Indians sent 13 to the plate in the nine run fifth inning with six players driving in a run. Bryce Williams (Ridgeland) sparked the scoring frenzy with his double to left that scored two. Butler wrapped up the inning by picking up his seventh RBI of the contest on a bases loaded double.

Timothy Rowe (Hernando) finished the scoring with his seeing-eye single up the middle to score Poole in the sixth, and allow the Indians to cruise to the 21-2 victory and snap their recent losing skid.

TJ Watson (Dallas, GA) picked up his fifth win from the bump to improve to 5-6 with his seven strikeout, four hit performance.
