FULTON, MS – The Itawamba Community College baseball team captured game one of the MACJC doubleheader against Mississippi Delta Community College in a close contest and game two was just as tight.

The Indians (15-11, 9-9 MACJC) took an early lead but an error in the seventh inning broke the tie, giving the Trojans their first lead of the contest and the win, 4-2.

Sophomore Tanner Poole (Amory) provided the early advantage for the Indians with a two run homerun to left in the third inning.

The Trojans rallied with small ball in the fifth frame scoring two runs to tie the contest at two.

Trenton Stringer (Stringer) was a workhorse for the Indians allowing only five hit and one earned run in six and a third innings of work. However, in the seventh, he would be hit with the loss after an error on a sacrifice bunt attempt scored the go ahead and game winning run for the Trojans.

The Indians will hit the road this weekend to continue their chase for a playoff spot when they travel to Summit to take on Southwest Mississippi Community College. First pitch is set for 2 p.m.
