FULTON, MS – ICC held off a late rally in game two for its first conference sweep of the season with a 4-3 win over No. 17 Northwest Mississippi Community College on Wednesday.

Tanner Poole (Amory) stole second after being hit by a pitch in the Indians (10-8, 4-6 MACJC) first at-bat of the game and later scored on a bases loaded walk issued to Gable Butler (Tishomingo) to take a 1-0 lead after the first inning of play.

The Indians and Rangers (13-8, 6-4 MACJC) went scoreless until the Indians scored three runs to take a 4-0 lead in the bottom of the fourth.

Cody Young (Collierville, TN) doubled and scored on a single by Poole, who scored on a double by Brayden Owen (Tupelo). Timothy Rowe (Hernando) scored Owen from second with a double of his own to knock Ranger starting pitcher J.G. Lipscomb off the mound.

Northwest rallied with three runs in the top of the fifth before Butler gunned down Dalton Dulin from right field trying to stretch a double into a triple to end the inning and preserve the Indians one-run lead heading into the final frame.

Trenton Stringer (Stringer) gave up a single between a pair of strike outs before a fly ball ended the contest and sealed the complete game victory for the freshman.

Stringer (1-0) gave up three earned runs on six hits and five walks, but struck out a career-high eight batters in the win.

Rowe finished the game 2-for-3 as the Indians manufactured eight hits with three going for extra bases in the win.

The Indians are scheduled to host Pearl River Community College (9-17, 3-7 MACJC) in a key conference doubleheader on Saturday, March 28 with game one starting at 2:00 p.m. at Cresap Field.
