BOONEVILLE, MS – After taking the lead in the final inning, the Itawamba Community College Indians saw the Northeast Mississippi Community College Tigers rally to win game two and split the doubleheader, 6-5, Tuesday afternoon.

Against the team who was coming off an upset win over nationally ranked Hinds, Indian started Trenton Stringer (Stringer) silenced the Tigers bats for five innings allowing only one hit and striking out five, but would get a no decision after five and two thirds innings of work.

Sophomore outfielder Gable Butler (Iuka) led the Indians at the plate in a 2-for-3 performance that included a two run scoring single in the seventh to regain the lead for ICC.

The Indians (7-7, 1-5 MACJC) captured the lead in the top of the sixth on a two run single by Cody Young (Collierville, TN) and a sacrifice bunt by Drake Rowton (Marion, AR). The Indians' 3-0 lead was short lived though as the Tigers answered in the bottom of the inning with four runs on four hits, including a two run home run by Jack Hurdle.

Down 4-3, the Indians regained the lead on a two out, two run single by Butler in the final frame. The Tigers tied the game two batters into the bottom of the seventh and picked up the walk off victory on a two out RBI single by Eric Patterson.

Jonas White (Lewisburg) was hit with the loss and falls to 2-2 on the year.

The Indians will travel hit the road again Saturday as they travel to Meridian for a division doubleheader with the Meridian Community College Eagles. First pitch for game one is scheduled for 2 p.m.
