Indians fall 13-7 to MS Gulf Coast

PERKINSTON, MS – The Itawamba Community College Indians headed to the coast for to wrap up spring break for a MACJC division showdown with the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College Bulldogs.

The Indians (5-6, 0-3 MACJC) rallied in the fifth to take a two run advantage but allowed eight runs over four innings to fall 13-7.

Sophomore outfielder Gable Butler (Iuka) did his best to push the Indians to victory with his two extra base hit performance. Butler, who finished 2 for 5, smashed a home run in the second and picked up a double in the fourth.

A four run fifth gave the Indians their first and only lead, 7-5, of the day. With the bases loaded, sophomores Russ Johnson (Hatley) and Bryce Williams (Ridgeland) were hit by pitches plating two runs. Tanner Poole (Amory) then ripped a single to score two runs. Poole finished the game with two hits in five at bats and drove in three runs.

The Indians lead would be short lived as the Bulldogs answered with four runs in the bottom of the fifth. The Bulldogs added four additional runs over the next three innings, while blanking the Indians in the final four frames to pick up the game one win.
