DECATUR, MS – After two weeks of Mother Nature wreaking havoc in north Mississippi, the Itawamba Community College Indians finally got to hit the field Friday against the East Central Community College Warriors. The Indians shook off the rust late but they were unable to overcome the early deficit, falling 5-3.

Tanner Poole (Amory) crossed the plate in the top of the third inning on a Brayden Owen (Tupelo) sacrifice fly to cut into the Warriors early lead. The Warriors answered with a two run homerun in the bottom half of the inning to take a 4-1 lead.

The Indians pulled within one again in the top of the fifth. Timothy Rowe (Hernando) scored on a wild pitch and three batters later Drake Rowton (Marion, AR) drove in a run on a ground ball back to the pitcher.

In the final two innings, the Indians were unable to get anything going offensively, while the Warriors added an insurance run in the sixth, to hand the Indians a 5-3 loss.

TJ Watson (Dallas, GA) went the distance on the hill, striking out five but suffered his first loss of the season against a team that will be a MACJC Division foe in the next meeting on April 18.

The loss is the second for the Indians who are now 5-2.
