WALNUT RIDGE, AR – Freshman pitcher Jeffery Mitchell made a splash in his collegiate debut in the Indians' 11-1 Game 2 win over Williams Baptist on Monday.

"Mitchell did a great job filling up the strike zone," said Coach Rick Collier. "The defense played well behind him to help give him some more confidence to go after the batters and then the bats came to life to give him some run support."

Mitchell (Tuscumbia, AL) threw a no-hitter, striking out six batters and walking five while facing 24 batters in six innings of work.

An RBI double by Drake Rowton (Marion, AR) and a two-run double by Ty Wheeler (Tupelo) during the first inning got the bats rolling to help the Indians' plate seven runs in the first three innings of the game.

"I felt like everybody contributed today," said Collier. "We want guys that are going to battle to give us a chance to win every time we take the field and today the guys did a great job of getting after it all day long."

The Indians (4-0, 0-0 MACJC) added three more runs in the fourth after a single by Wheeler scored Timothy Rowe (Hernando) before Cody Young (Collierville, TN) stole home and Seth Young (Olive Branch) scored on a fielder's choice.

Wheeler finished the day with four RBIs on two hits as the Indians totaled 11 hits with three going for doubles. Bryce Williams (Ridgeland) had three singles while Rowton and Tanner Poole (Amory) each had a pair of hits.

The Indians set what is thought to be a team record with 11 steals in the game. Poole and Williams each nabbed three bases while Wheeler stole two bags with Brayden Owen (Tupelo), Cody Young and Rowton each had a steal in the second game of the day.

ICC has manufactured 50 runs on 46 hits with 14 going for extra bases and are batting .380 as a team in the first four games of the season.

The Indians will host Ellsworth Community College (IA) on Saturday, February 14 with the First American National Bank opening pitch scheduled for 1:00 p.m. at Roy Cresap Field.
