FULTON, MS – Shortstop Luke Gibbs recently signed a National Letter of Intent to continue his baseball career with the Charlotte 49ers.  

Gibbs earned MACJC All-State second team honors after batting .331 with 23 RBI on 10 doubles, 2 doubles, and 2 home runs while stealing 8 bases to go along with his .445 slugging and .488 on-base percentages.

"It's a great feeling knowing that I'll be able to keep on playing and keep living the dream," said Gibbs.

The Oxford native transferred to ICC after one season with the Ole Miss baseball team.

"It was a big steppingstone for me after coming from Ole Miss," commented Gibbs. "I realized I needed some more playing time and [playing at ICC] really helped me out a lot have me ready to go to a school where I'll be getting a lot more opportunities."

Charlotte is a member of Conference USA and is coached by long-time head coach Loren Hibbs.

Gibbs is the sixth Indian signing to continue his baseball career joining Mississippi Valley State signees Drew Wheeler (Mooreville) and CJ Hodges (Winona), Delta State signee Ethan Gill (Pontotoc), Arkansas-Monticello signee Ben Aldridge (Tupelo) along with Memphis signee Andy Bowman (Memphis).
