FULTON, MS –
Itawamba Community College head baseball coach Rick Collier announced the signing of East Union High School standout first baseman and pitcher Dakota Edwards.

"Dakota is a guy who went to one of our tryouts and really caught our eye with his workout," Collier commented. "I've also seen him play several games and he's a guy who can come in and help us right away."

Edwards led his team in just about every offensive category as he batted .446 with 39 RBI on 37 hits with nine doubles, and 11 walks for a .500 on-base percentage to go along with a .554 slugging percentage.  He also successfully stole seven bases in eight attempts for Urchins head coach Chris Basil, who is former ICC standout for then head coach Roy Cresap.

"It's really exciting for me and I thank God for this opportunity to play for a program like ICC," Edwards said about signing with the tradition-rich Itawamba. "I really like Coach Collier and I'll work hard every day to make myself better and to help this team anyway I can."
