BOONEVILLE, MS - The Indians (10-7, 0-1 MACJC North) dropped their MACJC North Division opener, 6-4, to the Northeast Tigers on Saturday.

The Indians got on the board in the top of the first when Ethan Gill (Pontotoc) was hit by a pitch and scored on a two-out bases-loaded walk issued to Austin Welch (Hamilton).

The Tigers tied the game in the bottom of the second, but the Indians aswered in the top of the third when Gill reached on an error and scored on a double off the centerfield wall to take a 2-1 lead.

Northeast pushed across four runs in the bottom of the fifth and added another run in the sixth to take a 6-2 lead into the seventh.

The Indians rallied when Gill was hit by a pitch for the third time in the game and scored on a fielder's choice by Welch. Hayden Williams (Amory) singled and scored on a fielder's choice after an outstanding diving stop by the Tigers' shortstop, but the Indians' rally would come up short after the Tigers got a ground out to end the inning.

ICC left eight runners on base, five in scoring position, in the loss.

Williams went 2-for-2 with a sac bunt and was hit by a pitch. Andy Bowman (Memphis) had a pair of singles as the Indians combined for six hits in the game.
